Blues & BBQ Festival August 2010

Hi Everyone! This August we had the pleasure of competing at the Blues & BBQ Festival at Harrah's Rincon. Proceeds benefited The Angel's Depot, who provide food to the elderly living in poverty in San Diego County.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support us! We had a lot of fun at this competition. We got to spend the day BBQ'n and listening to blues...which goes perfect with BBQ............
well...EVERYTHING goes well with BBQ! :-)

Check out our cool sign!
...and we got to keep it after the event. Enough of my talk, I know what you came to see...You want to see some photos of the smoker and our good ol' BBQ, right?

Mmm...ribs and chicken...

Slathering our Original BBQ sauce all over the ribs. Yum!
And then we picked our finest pieces in each category for the judging...
Our chicken looks so cute and cozy in our box!...tucked in with BBQ Sauce.

Now that the competition meat is underway, it's time to start serving our hungry crowd!

Blues performed by Aunt Kizzy's Boyz
Bands that played that day included Artwork Jamal and the Acid Blues Band, Aunt Kizzy's Boyz, and Bill Magee Blues Band.

We ended the competition listening to blues and spending time with our family from Washington and friends who came to see us from all over. Definitely a wonderful day!

OUR FIRST BBQ COMPETITION!!

Thank you to everyone who came out to support us and get some BBQ grub! We were so happy to smoke some yummy BBQ for Kristie's Foundation

All of the proceeds went to this wonderful foundation which helps terminally-ill children to have a beautiful life as long as they are still with us. People really stepped up to support the cause, and it was a wonderful event. Check out some photos from the event:

Now it's time to start serving our hungry customers.  Danni & Tammy pose for a quick pic before getting down to business!

We met a lot of good people and good times were had by all. In our first-ever competition here is how we ranked out of 57 teams:

We learned a lot at our first competition and are ready to up our game for the next one - maybe do a little more experimenting....(which means lots of taste testing - my favorite part!!)
